10/09: This is Mamma Girl now called Rory, a 1-2 year old Pit mix, and she really needed ourr help! She was found tied the Shelter gate one weekend night with no note or info. We dont know if her owner left her there or if someone found her and brought her to safety. Turned out Mamma GIrl was pregnant & soon delivered 8 beautiful pups. We put out a call for a help & she was lucky enought to have found a wonderful foster. This is what her foster says about out Mamma Girl/Rory: She and the pups have been at my house since early last week and things are going really well. She and the pups have been staying in a crate when I am not there and she is very much kennel trained except for, of course, the fact that she would rather be by me than go into the kennel when its time for me to go to work in the morning, but that hasnt been an issue. She has also made a wonderful alarm clock letting me know its time to get up and take her out when it is actually time for me to get up. Shes an absolute sweetheart with my lab, letting the puppies jump all over her and eating at the same time and not getting jealous over bones or toys. And while she expressed some interest in my cat the first few days she now just ignores her and lets the cat walk right by her with no problems, which is all my cat really wants anyway. The puppies are certainly getting more active and are some of the sweetest puppies Ive ever worked with. Just like their mama all they want is to be in your lap and cuddled. They tend to fall asleep in a big pile and are getting very playful but are quickly learning what they can and cannot chew on, and watching these tiny things try to take on some of the bigger toys I have in the house is hilarious. The pups will be ready in a few weeks to move on to their own homes and Mamma Girl/Rory will need to find her own family tooi. Agriculture in Chalmette LA or call 504-278-1534. (Mon-Fri 7-4) (other hours by appointment). They ill arrange for you to meet this family at their foster.
