Maddie is approximately 1 year old and 7lbs. She's a sweetheart that loves being with people & sitting in laps. She's playful but is a moderate energy level. She loves other dogs & gets along well with cats. She seems housebroken and isn't destructive in the house when left alone. She hatesbeing crated and cries when left in her crate unless she is in the same room and can see you. She can also squeeze through very small places so she'll need to be supervised when outdoors in a yard. She fits through a baby gate that has 3 inch slats. Maddie's tail is always wagging and she's always "smiling." she's such a happy little girl. She is not aggressive over food or treats, often she and her "buddy" lay in a crate together and share a rawhide chew. They sleep curled up with one another and have a grand time. She plays well with all the other dogs she has met while in rescue, approximately 20. Maggie's only issue is she was never walked on a leash and doesn't know what to do when she's being walked. I think a harness would work best for her until she gets past being frightened of the leash at her neck. While they say harnesses are not good for dogs b/c they give them more power and control over the walk, Maddie has the personality that is very passive. this wouldn't be an issue for her. She is a low enough energy level that twice daily walks wouldn't be needed and she could probably be very happy with occasional walks and a back yard to play in.. Maddie would so love a home of her own where she is the center of attention? do you have room in your heart for this sweet girl?? She is in a foster home north of Hammond, LA. Maddie is fully vetted, heart worm negative and is on monthly preventative. Her adoption fee is $200.00. Please contact Cheryl Henkel @ miacrh@bellsouth.net for any questions. All our adoptable dogs will need someone with the time and energy to provide regular exercise. Dog's should be walked at least twice a day and not left out in the yard to play and get energy out alone. Most behavior problems are a result of too little exercise, the dog becomes bored and destructive. Our adoption fee varies from 150.00 to 250.00. ALL of the money from adoption fees or donations go to the animals only. we are a not for profit rescue group.
